We will be stitching onto water soluble fabric and when your piece is finished, the background fabric will be dissolved and all that will be left is the image you stitched, creating a unique patch that can be sewn onto your clothing or bags, framed or even added to a handmade card.

This class is good for beginners and anybody looking to practice their skills in a creative group setting.

Create your own custom hand felted slippers for a cozier winter! In this two day workshop, you'll use the ancient process of wet felting that combines wool roving, soap and water to create felt from scratch in the form of your dream slippers. Wet felted wool is structural, durable and insulating, making it the perfect material for slippers. 

Class one will focus on learning the wet felting technique, making a pattern for your slippers and beginning the process of laying out the wool and felting the fibers together. 

Class two will focus on the shaping of the felted wool and forming the felt to a tool called a last in the shape of your foot. The second class will also provide time to create decorative elements for your slippers that can be added to them through sewing and needle felting.

Learn how to sculpt organic forms with wool during this two-day, wet felting intensive with Fiber Artist, Mallory Zondag. You will learn a variety of wet felting techniques for creating flowers, leaves, stems, stamens and how to connect all of these elements to form realistic floral forms. We will also cover how to bring needle felting, stitching and beading into your felting work. Day one will cover techniques and processes for making a variety of these organic forms from peonies to roses to orchids and more. Day two will be an open studio format where students design their own unique floral arrangement and spend the day creating it, using the techniques from day one, with guidance from Mallory. 

Supply Fee Paid Directly to Instructor:  $45 supply cost per person which covers all materials: felting kit (that can be taken home), merino wool, silk fibers, wire, beads and other miscellaneous tools and materials needed for the project.

Students will learn how to create wet felted fabric from scratch, how to work with different types of wool and other fibers within the wet felting, and how to create simple three-dimensional forms. The course will cover everything students need to know to begin their wet felting journey. If you are familiar with wet felting, this course can give you time and space to work on a project with materials at your fingertips and hands on help.  Materials fee paid to the instructor: $15

Felted Bumblebees @Clifton Park Halfmoon Library

Learn the skill of wet felting and create a bumblebee to contribute to our Living Wall Community Project.

Registrants can drop in at any time during this two-hour event, led by Mallory Zondag.

All Living Wall Community Project workshops will culminate in a collaborative community sculpture. The sculpture will be made up of works created by community members during the various fiber art workshops held throughout the summer, all made using a variety of techniques such as wet felting, needle felting, and embroidery. The final project will take inspiration from local pollinators and flora, and the completed sculpture will be unveiled at a reception in October. The sculpture will then be displayed in the Library as a testament to the community's creativity and connectedness.
