Learn how to sculpt with wool through the art of needle felting while enjoying the cozy atmosphere of Arthur's Market!

Create your own unique needle felted animal while enjoying the cozy atmosphere, delightful drinks and delicious snacks of Arthur's Market.

You will learn how to shape and sculpt wool into a basic form using a felting needle and then how to transform that shape into a variety of animals, anything from your own pet, to a reindeer, to an imaginary creature and anything inbetween. You will be able to create your own design using the skills and techniques gained in the workshop. We will also cover how to mix and blend colors to really bring your animal to life.

You will also have the choice at the end of the workshop to turn your felted animal into an ornament, making a perfect gift or special piece of decor for the holiday season!

Learn the ancient and awesome art of wet felting during this three-hour workshop! Using wool, water, olive oil soap and your own two hands, you will learn how to sculpt wool into two small three dimensional bowls. This wet felting technique can be applied to future projects such as hats, sippers, pillows and more! Materials fee paid to the instructor: $10. 

Explore wet felting and needle felting to create dense, layered felt that will absorb heat and create the perfect surface for your cup of coffee or hot pots. We will use needle felting to create interesting patterns and imagery on the surface of your coasters. Each person will create 4 coasters or one large trivet, perfect for gift giving this holiday season! 

Looking for a personalized holiday gift? In this 5 hour workshop you will felt your own beautiful, wearable piece of art! You will learn how to apply merino wool roving, silks, yarns, and other materials to a piece of silk chiffon. Through the ancient art of wet felting, we’ll fuse all the elements into a cohesive textile. These shawls can be worn, stitched into decorative pillows or bags, used as wall hangings, the only limit is your imagination.

This workshop begins at 10am sharp at the Mabee Farm Education Center. Expert felting artist Mallory Zondag will guide participants through the entire process. The registration fee covers all materials costs. Just come prepared to learn and have fun!

Learn the art of needle felting during this 3 hour workshop with fiber artist Mallory Zondag. You will learn how to sculpt wool into three dimensional forms, how to incorporate wire into your felt sculpture and how to mix and blend colors to bring your sculpture to life learning about blending, highlights and color theory.  Your mushrooms can become ornaments if you like!

Learn how to embroider and create a unique embroidered patch while enjoying the cozy atmosphere of Arthur's Market!

Create your own unique embroidered patch while enjoying the delightful atmosphere, drinks and snacks of Arthur's Market!

Learn how to use satin stitch, split stitch, french knots and more to stitch an image into being, from mushrooms to moths and everything inbetween. We will be stitching onto water soluble fabric and when your piece is finished, the background fabric will be dissolved and all that will be left is the image you stitched, creating a uniue patch that can be sewn onto your clothing or bags, framed or added to a handmade card for the upcoming holidays!

Some designs will be provided but everyone is welcome to create their own unique design.

Supplies are included in your ticket and you will be able to keep your embroidery hoop, needle and some thread to either finish your project at home or start a brand new project!

Explore the art of wet felting and needle felting to create a fall foliage wreath! You will learn how to sculpt three dimensional organic forms through both wet felting and needle felting to create leaves, fall flowers, mushrooms, vines and more! All of your work will be affixed to a gold hoop that can be wrapped in wool or left partially uncovered to highlight the beautiful textures you will create!

Learn the ancient art of wet felting during this four hour workshop. You will learn how to transform wool roving into a three dimensional vessel through the resist technique using just your hands, olive oil soap and water. We will cover how to shape and form your vessel through wet felting, how to blend colors and create patterns in your felt and how to using cutting techniques to create an organic lace effect in your bowl or basket.

Learn how to create images in thread during this embroidery class. We'll focus on embroidering one small object; a mushroom, a moth, a lemon slice, etc. (students will choose what they want to make!) and through this learn how to work with varied satin stitch, blend colors and use thread to bring your image to life. No experience required. All materials included. Students will leave with a 6" hoop, assorted embroidery threads and embroidery needle to be able to continue their project on their own time.

A materials fee of $10 is to be paid to the instructor at the time of the workshop

Learn how to create a needle felted pumpkin during this two hour workshop at Wayward Lane Brewing, voted best brewery in NY state!

You will learn how to shape and sculpt wool using just a felting needle to create a spooky cute pumpkin just in time for spooky season!

The brewery will be open during the workshop so you can enjoy Wayward Lanes incredible beers with a screening of the 1996 horror classic SCREAM during the workshop.

Create your very own spooky cute wooly pumpkin this autumn while enjoying the cozy ambience of Arthur's Market in the historic Schenectady Stockade! Join local award winning fiber artist, Mallory Zondag and learn the art of needle felting, a hands on, stress reducing way of dry sculpting wool fibers. You will learn how to blend colors, to work with the wool to create shapes and patterns and how to use the needle to sculpt the wool into a three dimensional pumpkin form. At the end of the workshop you will have your own spooky cute felted pumpkin to take home!

Learn how to "paint" with wool during this needle felting workshop. We will work with creating realistic imagery using painting techniques such as atmospheric perspective, color theory and layering all while working with the incredible colors and textures of wool. The fee for this class includes all materials. There are a minimum of 4 participants to run this class, so consider registering with a friend or two!

In this class, students will explore the hands-on artform of tapestry weaving. We will cover the warping of a frame loom, learn a variety of weaving techniques for creating pattern and, especially, texture. Materials will range from yarns and threads to wool roving and upcycled fabrics to really develop varied texture across your weaving. The fee for the class includes all materials. There are a minimum of 4 participants to run this class, so consider registering with a friend or two!

Join local fiber artist Mallory Zondag and learn the art of tapestry weaving during this 2 hour workshop. Using a mini frame loom and a variety of yarns and fibers such as wool roving, silk, and wool locks, you will learn how to weave patterns and textures to evoke the mossy magic of the forest floor, all set up on a wooden box frame so your weaving is ready to hang at the end of the session. The workshop will cover four different weaving techniques to bring your moss textile to life!
